In the book Calm Energy by Robert E. Thayer, PH.D. he writes that we think our moods are controlled by events and circumstances. But, the same circumstances don't create the same mood each time, "...it is closely related to how much sleep we had, how healthy we are, when and what we last ate, and what kind of exercise we had lately. Even the time of day is important to our moods." Add to that hormones, blood sugar levels, muscle tension and other physiological reactions. Biological conditions seem to be the most probable underpining of those mood changes. "Events and circumstances do influence mood, but they happen on top of a biological edifice that gives them greater or lesser importance." He goes on to write that most of us try to self-regulate our moods through eating, alochol, etc. without even being aware of what we are doing. I'll have to wait until I am further into the book to find out how to regulate them on purpose.

I have been pushing myself hard over the past few weeks, so yesterday I decided to work on a crossword puzzle for awhile. I even started researching answers I didn't know on the internet. The puzzle gave me a chance to let go and relax for a bit.
