The kids got two Halloween's. We live in a small town that doesn't trick or treat on Halloween if it is on a Sunday. So Saturday, the kids and I headed onto Central Avenue, the main trick or treat route. My daughter took off with her friend and my son wanted to hang with me. We laughed and talked.

One of our aquaintances always serves hot cocoa to warm us up. Many of the parents dress up to pass out candy. One family and their extended family sits outside admidst fake spider web, in costume with creepy music in the background. One older lady bakes chocolate chip cookies holding the baggie closed with an address label so you know they are safe.

Friends and neighbors stop to chat and catch up. I have really enjoyed this community time.

The next day after a cozy candle party and my in-laws, we took the kids out trick or treating near their neighborhood for a little bit.
