3/10/2005My computer was going pretty wacky. My husband, who builds all of our computers, diagonosed the problem and I ended up with a new CPU with hyperthreading and motherboard. I had to save all my info from my computer. According to my brother-in-law, who worked at a computer place during college, who should reformat your computer about once a year anyway to clear out the useless files and orphaned data. It's always a pain to do that. But, this time I wrote it all down. I wrote down what files to save, like the Quicken data file, Outlooks .pst file and Trillian's User file which aren't files I always think to save. I went through my program files, writing down all the programs I wanted to use again, and where I could find them (i.e. downloaded, on CD, where on the internet, etc.) and any passwords or registration numbers. After I saved everything I needed to and Jeff redid my system, it's now time to put everything back on. The system is fresh without tons of things on the desktop and in my bookmarks (*hint* you can save your bookmarks for free at www.mybookmarks.com). I'm about halfway done putting things back on my system. All this computer work is making me tired. I think I will turn in early today.
